Privacy Policy — lawGPT
This policy explains what lawGPT collects, why, who else sees it, and how you get rid of it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
lawGPT provides legal information, not legal advice. Answers are generated with the help of automated systems and may be incomplete or wrong. Nothing in the app creates a lawyer–client relationship, and it is not a substitute for a qualified advocate. Verify anything you intend to rely on.
What we collect
Account information. When you register we collect a username, an email address, and a password. The password is stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never hold it in a readable form and cannot recover it for you.
What you type and say. Your questions, case facts, practice answers, moot-court submissions, and any documents or text you paste into the app are sent to our servers so the app can respond. If you use a spoken feature, audio captured from your microphone is processed to produce text. The microphone is used only while you are actively using such a feature; the app does not listen in the background.
Technical information. Our servers record ordinary request data — IP address, timestamp, app version, and error diagnostics — which we use to keep the service running and to investigate faults.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, calendar, SMS, call logs, or files outside what you explicitly share with the app.
How your questions are processed
To answer you, lawGPT sends the text of your query — together with relevant statutory material retrieved from our own reference database — to third-party AI model providers, currently including OpenAI, Anthropic and DeepSeek. This transmission is necessary for the core function of the app: without it there is no answer.
These providers process the text under their own terms and privacy policies. The set of providers may change as we improve the service; this policy will be updated to reflect any change, but the nature of the processing described here will remain the same.
Practical consequence: treat anything you type as leaving your device. Do not enter client names, case numbers, identity document numbers, or other details you are professionally obliged to keep confidential.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in
- To generate answers, practice feedback, and scoring
- To keep your history available across sessions on your account
- To diagnose crashes and fix defects
- To prevent abuse of the service
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics networks. We do not use your content to train our own models.
Storage and retention
Account data and conversation history are stored on our servers for as long as your account exists. A session token is stored locally on your device so you do not have to sign in repeatedly; signing out removes it.
Server logs containing technical information are retained for a limited operational period and then discarded.
Deleting your data
Request account and data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and its associated content at any time by emailing bhushanbharat6958@gmail.com from the address registered to the account. We will delete the account, its history, and associated records within 30 days, except where we are required to retain something by law.
Content already transmitted to third-party model providers is subject to their retention practices and may persist in their systems beyond our deletion.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords are hashed. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise — but we do not ask you for information we do not need.
Children
lawGPT is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has registered an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to the contact address below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
